Why hello thar! Guess what? This is my first journal since, let's see, DECEMBER o_O

I had no idea I haven't updated in so long, so let me just fill you guys in on my summer so far~

I'm currently working at a medical center for a science experiment for Intel. Now, I don't want to go blabbing about the experiment here (b/c another scientist might steal it <_< >_> ) but it's been pretty tough
My hours are 10-5, pretty much. It's like, I go in there and immediately start working with various chemicals doing techniques, such as RNA purification, Reverse Transcription, agarose gels for electrophoresis, PCR, etc. etc. I think my pipetting skillz have gone down the drain b/c I just worked about 1 1/2 weeks on this one thing, only to have the results completely BLOW UP in my face >_> Yes, I am sad, but hopefully I can repeat the experiment and I won't do a double digestion RNA purification -nods-

Now that I've bored you all to tears (i'm sorry, had to rant!) I'll tell you about my more interesting obsession over a little something called HETALIA xD

Thanks to ~crimsonobsidianrose, I have become majorly obsessed with the manga/anime. Honestly, I've been doing nothing but looking up videos, reading fanfiction, and looking at fanart (cuz we all know i can't draw it xD) I used to be obsessed with Death Note, and I still am, but Hetalia has made it's way into my heart as well :3

I think that's honestly all I really had to say xD I miss all my buddies from school, so shout outs to all of you! And btw, for those people who go to my school, remember, ~niki-uchiha and I are trying to found the Film Festival Club, so if you're interested (and like Mr. Yellin, who will be the advisor if we get passed) please tell us! :3 And if you want to join the Knitting Club, you can just ask me 8D (coughPresidentcough)

I have a question. What kind of non-english music do you listen to? I've gotten obsessed recently with German music for some reason xD (i'm not even german...seriously, I should probably listen to spanish music since my mom is Puerto Rican, or Russian music since my dad is 1/8 russian...don't ask about the other 7/8s, I have no idea xD) I was hoping I could be introduced to whole new worlds of music this summer ^^

Well, after last night's results, how could I not comment on how Barrack Obama won the Presidency for the United States of America? And for those of you who don't live in America, lol, well, you might be kind of lost in this journal XD Also, no hate comments plz. I'm just voicing my opinions, and I don't feel like political debates b/c my school has this whole, "Election Simulation" thingy, and we've been discussing politics for five weeks now...I am tired XD

For the past two years, America has been going through election processes to see who would become our next President. Finally, it was between republican senator John McCain with Sarah Palin as his VP and democrat senator Barrack Obama with Joe Biden as his VP.

I was a supporter of Ron Paul (who nobody knows), but he dropped out as the republican candidate XD oh wellz...

Anywayz, last night, on November 4th, we finally voted (well, I didn't, but the rest of the American citizens who can vote did) and we chose Barrack Obama to be our next President!!!!!!! (i'm just glad Bush is out of office, lol)

Well, whether or not you dislike the results, either way, each candidate would have made history. If McCain won, he would have been the oldest elected offical into the Executive Office, at age 72. Sarah Palin would have been the first woman VP. But Obama won, and he is the first African American man to be elected as President. At first, I didn't even realize this, but then the news channel i was watching was like, "Finally! An African American President! "

And then I realized what a break through America made as a nation. We disregarded race and voted based on political views. (well, most people did. some people are still racist. I'm not saying that if you voted for McCain that your racist since that would be completely untrue and quite a rude remark. I'm saying that there are still people out there who didn't vote for Obama because of his race)

So then, after I realized this break through in American history, I realized...I had just WITNESSED history right before my eyes. And i was just so excited! So far, I've been in a generation that's lived through two major things: the attacks on September 11th and our first African American President.

Anywayz, I continued to watch McCain and Obama's speeches till about 1 am. Everytime Obama would mention McCain, like, "He was a formidable opponent and a man that deserves great respect", the crowd cheered. But when McCain would mention Obama, like, "He was a great opponent to face and we must all unite as Americans to help him rebuild our nation", the crowd booed.

Srsly, I'm very angry they did that. However, part of McCain's campaign was trying to smear Obama's reputation. (Palin claimed Obama was associated with terrorists. However, this "claim" was actually the fact that Obama used to know this guy that was associated with bombings...and this is when Obama was 8 years old....and didn't even know this guy all too much...)

Well, that's all I really had to say. I know my Uncle is pissed becuz he wanted McCain to win. Like, really badly. My uncle even supports President Bush o_O (not that he isn't a good president...from a...well, a certain perspective, I suppose)

Thank you to all who voted, whether you voted McCain, Obama, or one of the guys from the Socialist, Indpendent, or Green House parties (I don't remember the rest). Remember, we're in America, and we've been given the privelege to vote for who we want to represent us! Don't let the people who fought for these rights have fought for nothing! Always, always, ALWAYS vote!!! I can't wait for the day when I can voice my opinion.

Ok, so, the greatest thing just happened to me a few weeks ago, and since I haven't been on deviantart lately, I thought I might share...

*ahem*

I GOT A MENTORSHIP WITH A PROFESSOR WITH A PhD AT A UNIVERSITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is MAJOR for me. You see, in high school, I'm taking junior year science research. I've already taken sophomore year, which is basically just learning different techniques, like streaking agar plates, working and transferring bacteria, building bridges made out of popsicle sticks and dental floss (yeah, mine didn't turn out so well XD)

ANYWAYZ

I got a mentorship with this professor. He studies synaptic plasticity, which basically deals with a synapse between two neurons and how increasing or decreasing its size by the use of the PARP1 enzyme will effect long term memory.

If you just got all that without doing the research I did, you are a genius

SO, I'm SUPER excited now! You see, for the next half a year, I'll be studying this topic and learning techniques on how to perform certain, specific techniques. :3

THEN, I'll start my very own individual project. If it all goes well, I can enter many different prestigious science fairs, such as NYCSEF and INTEL!!!!!!!!

Science is totally my calling (and death note cosplaying...death note cosplaying is my calling too). I was just so excited that I had to tell everyone

In other news, I'm taking JAPANESE!!!!!!! It's SO MUCH FUN! And now I can use Japanese terms correctly, so people can't say "U shouldn't uze terms liek 'kawaii' cuz ur not Japaneze" and I can be like, "Oh yeah?! Well...DENWA BANGO WA NAN DESUKA????"

...ok, that means "what's your phone number", but whatever XD
